Garbage in, Garbage Out!!!

Innova Plex was the first company who introduced Virtual Petrography® whole thin-section scanning technology.     Since then, many others followed suit to come up with seemingly similar systems.

In fact, there are many off-the-shelf hardware and software packages now available that you can purchase and this will let you create a huge image tile of thin-sections.

Even a well-equipped high schooler with just enough knowledge in optics and mechatronics can put together his or her own system to make a tiled set of hugh image.

However, there are more substances hidden under the superficial similarities that really makes tons of difference in what you can do with the image.  Our file format along with a specialized streaming geo-data server and analytical tools allows not just a fast viewing, but analysis of whole image as a wholesome data.   It even lets you search and link datasets of similar parameters.

With the advance of new AI-assisted tools, we are rapidly adding on additional plug-in modules to find, link, view, render, and even analyze image sets as complex as multi-dimensional 3D FIB image data using server pushed multi-scalar rasterization method.  

Petrogrographic data more than any other data set relies more heavily on the quality of sample preperation and the resulting image quality.     No matter how good of processing algorithm, methodology and startegy you possess, if your image is of subpar quality stemming from poor sample preperation, inferior acquisition set up, and limited dynamic resolution, you will end up with a undesirable data enumeration result.


The simple rule of thumb in image analysis always prevails.
